  • Busy, busy, busy!

    What a busy week...

Not only have I been recovering from Newquay (still) but I've been given more hours at work (good as a need the money), looking for new jobs and have had to do a hell of a lot of socilising (what a chore!!!)!

Nat came back to Bath for a quick visit yesterday so in the true sprit of impulsiveness we headed off to the Balloon Fiesta in Bristol! Mon was desperate to visit as it may be her one and only chance to see it before she deserts us for Oz! So off we toddled only to get caught up in traffic a mile from the site! Inevitable really. Luckily we managed to park up and Ashton Gate and walk the rest of the way. We got there just in time to hear the chorus of what may have been "Love Machine" and got to see Girls Aloud live on stage! It was then just a short (hour-long!) wait for the balloon glow! Everybody was getting a bit impatient but as soon as the fireworks and music started we all realised that it had been worth hanging about...Mon and Nat definately enjoyed it! I managed to get some good pics too!

Am now just trying to keep myself occupied so that I don't get too excited about tonight! Becca, Cate and Rob are coming to visit...although I get the feeling that they're not really excited about seeing me, just about seeing Harry, Adj, Dom and Tilley! We're all off to see Kubb tonight and I'm really looking forward to it - the venue only holds 120 - very intimate! Only problem is, I'm still not sure how to get there!!!

  • Newquay Madness!

    Wow! What an amazing weekend!!!

I've just gotten home from one of the most bizarre, funny and amazing weekends ever!

The friday was just amazing! Thanks to Holly, Cate and John we were at the head of the queue and positioned ourselves right at the front of the stage. All of the bands were good especially Dave Ford (what was with the park bench?) and Kubb (what was with the boiler suit!) who I got to see at last! It was a bit of a shame that so many of the crowd were so desperate to see Donavan Frankereiter that they kept screaming his name (even while Kubb were still onstage!) but I suppose thats the price you pay for going to festivals...not everyone is going to appreciate the same acts!

Of course, James was the highlight and I was shocked (and admittedly so very happy) that James gave me a wink and a big grin in the middle of "Wisemen"! Made my night! I also managed to get a couple of big grins from Beardy only to be told by James later that it was Beardys 30th birthday! No wonder he was so happy! Of course we all sang our little hearts out and had a great time! We were even treated to an amazing sunset just before James came onstage! Absolutely fab! All of the new songs were played aswell as the cover of "Where is my Mind" (which all of us Bedlamites were singing twice as loud to show the rest of the crowd, and the band, that we were truly committed!) but the best song was probably "Goodbye My Lover" which had the whole of the crowd singing! The night was rounded off nicely with a perilous walk back to the campsite via the "Hill of Death" followed by a few beers (desperately needed after our 8 hours of sobreity!).

The saturday was rather bizarre to say the least! A few of us headed off for a game of Bowling only to find that the Bowling Alley had....wait for it....4 lanes!!! It was tiny! A very bizarre thing for us all to do but we had a great time, even posing for photos to show off our shoes and balls!!! We then met up with Emma and Leanne for a cream tea with proper cornish clotted cream (well, it had to be done!) in Newquay town.

As evening came around we all headed off for the festival again and I have to say that the saturday night was soooo much fun. By the time we got to the site we were all so wet that rain was dripping off our noses but we didn't seem to care! We just went with the flow and ended up having such a laugh. I think it was probably the fact that we all looked so bad that we didn't care what we looked like and ended up messing around even more. Pete was re-christened "Pirate Pete" as he fashioned a bandana out of a bin bag to keep his hair dry, and Rob went from "Washer Woman Dearsley" to "Sheik Rob" after a few experiments with any waterproof materials we could find. Flip flop war was declared after being given freebies from the Sloggi van and much fun and merriment was had by all! A highlight had to be watching people inhaling laughing gas from a balloon. To see their expressions go from a cynical "this is never going to work" face to being doubled over with laughter was so funny that we had no need to go and pay for the laughing gas ourselves! The funniest thing was seeing the same people an hour later still giggling telling their friends that they were "screwed!". Again, the walk home was rather interesting, this time due to our slightly inebriated states! Back at the tents we chilled with the remainder of our beers and played "How many times will Rob let us chuck Jelly Babies at him until he realises we aren't actually aiming for his mouth!". Rob and I later decided to go for a walk to ease our hyperness only to find ourselves on the beach a mile back down from the campsite until almost 4 in the morning!!! So much fun!

In summary, great company + great music + great weather (mostly) = one totally enjoyable weekend!

    Friday Night Sunset!

  • *Yawn*

Excuse me! Its just been a veeeery long day! For the second time this week I was up before 6am! And this time it wasn't for such an exciting reason as flying to Scotland! I had to go out to Cribbs Causeway to help with the set-up of a new Accessorize.

Although I was falling asleep in the car on the way there, I was actually looking forward to it because I was expecting to do the window. But what happened? As usual, things were not as they seemed and the window was set aside to be done by....Kate! Even though I was disappointed about being cast aside (again!) the time actually flew by and before we knew it 12 hours had gone and we were on our way home!

Was hoping to return to some news (good or bad) from St Andrews, but alas, they are not being as prompt as they had promised! Will have to chase them up tomorrow if I don't hear soon!

Am gutted to be missing out on a gig tonight...Stephen Fretwell is playing a live set at the Apple Store in London! I would love to have gone but, aside from the fact that I probably wouldn't have made it to London after such a long day, I know that if I start being impulsive over someone else then there will be no way back! Will have to make do with a report (and hopefully photos) of the gig from Rob and Holly! At least I have the gig in Oxford to look forward to...am excited about it already!

  • 4 days to go!

How excited am I...its only 4 days until Newquay!

I can't wait, not only do I get to see the number one man himself (James Blunt of course) but am also meeting up with some of my newest (and craziest) friends! However, I am now a bit apprehensive seeing as Mr Rob is now refering to our transport down as a "Rally Car"...I hope we all get there in one piece! Also looking forward to seeing Kubb, Donovan Frankenreiter and Razorlight live for the very first time!

Only downside is that we will have to leave rather early in order to bag ourself a place at the front of the Radio 1 crowd, and believe me, we willbe at the front! You see Mr Blunt will be performing live for Ms Jo Whiley on Radio 1 and it promises to be amazing (as he always is of course!)

    Me and the main man!
